Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass
Sunday, March 9
3:00 p.m. on the Lodge Stage
You could say it’s a family thing, not uncommon in the best of traditional music. Once upon a time there was a fine bluegrass band led by Bob Paisley and Ted Lundy. Danny Paisley joined the band as a teenaged singer/guitarist, inherited the band upon his dad’s passing, and then recruited Ted’s sons T.J. and Bobby to play along. Danny’s own son Ryan joined his dad’s band as a high school student. Even the outsider, banjo picker Mark Delaney, was adopted along the way.
Now, in its third generation, Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass have made their own niche in the bluegrass world, producing consecutive chart-topping albums. The group has had over 20 Bluegrass Music award nominations, including Album of the Year for their release of Bluegrass Troubadour. A cut, Blink of an Eye, spent several months at #1 and was nominated for Song of the Year. In 2024, Danny Paisley joined an elite group when he was awarded the IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year for the fourth time – an achievement bestowed to only three others in the history of bluegrass music.
Growing up in small-town Pennsylvania, Danny was influenced by bedrock bluegrass, classic country, old-time mountain music and traditional gospel. A little Bill Monroe, a little Vern Gosdin, a little George Jones, a little Osborne Brothers – it’s all there. His voice is memorable, with a mighty range – not just for notes but for the raw emotion of soulful singing.
The supporting cast of musicians, Bobby Lundy (bass and vocals), T. J. Lundy (fiddle), Ryan Paisley (mandolin and vocals) and Mark Delaney (five-string banjo) play powerful, unadorned and intense traditional bluegrass. There is no hybrid or genre-bending music here. Their combination of instrumentation and vocals convey the energy and emotion of classic bluegrass and country music.

CAHHH NEWS
January 2025 News
Happy New Year to all! January brings the annual membership drive of the Civic Association of Heritage Harbour Homeowners (CAHHH), organized by our membership chair Jerry Klinken. In our role as an organization separate from the Heritage Harbour Community Association (HHCA), we deal primarily with matters that are external to Heritage Harbour, such as those involving county, state or federal governments and agencies. Please watch your USPS mail in the next few days for a letter, list of CAHHH board members and membership card. Annual dues are still only $10, unchanged since 1984. We appreciate your support!
In continuing efforts to address traffic safety in and around Heritage Harbour, engineers with the county Department of Public Works (DPW) are in the process of adjusting traffic signal operations of the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Truman Parkway and Southaven Road. If you have any concerns or questions, you can contact Richard Folderauer with the DPW at 410-222-7334.
Additionally, in the coming months, DPW will be conducting a traffic survey along various streets in the Heritage Harbour Community. The survey will include a full week of traffic counts which will require the use of traffic data collection devices. In past traffic monitoring efforts, DPW used pneumatic tubes which had to be stretched and fastened to the road. While these devices are accurate, they are noisy, require technicians to be in the traffic to install them, and cannot be used during snow plow operations.
Because of these shortcomings, DPW has upgraded traffic data collection technology to new Tubeless Radar Traffic Data Collectors. These devices will be placed below traffic signage or on street light poles in the community (see sample picture). These devices will collect anonymous vehicle volumes, speeds and size; they do not record any personal information nor do they issue tickets to speeding vehicles. The data will be analyzed to help engineers understand the traffic patterns in our community.
Annual Meeting
Thanks to all who attended our annual meeting on November 11. Our keynote speakers, Bob Stevenson and Adam Stevenson, related stories about the Chesapeake Bay’s surviving lighthouses. Bob has been leading tours aboard the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, a National Historic Landmark, since 2007. Bob was joined by his son Adam, who has sailed the bay since childhood and has developed an enthusiasm for the history and importance of America’s lighthouses. We enjoyed hearing about some very familiar lighthouses, like Sandy Point and Thomas Point Shoal.
During the business portion of the meeting, we elected/re-elected by acclamation the following members of our Board of Directors:
George Merchant, President
Julie Weatherly, Vice President
Michael Alin, Treasurer
Ann Marie Kelly, Secretary
We appreciate the hard work of these volunteer residents who commit much time and energy to our community.
On October 12, Joni Morrison and her volunteers did an excellent job of bringing the ever-popular shredding event to Heritage Harbour. Kudos to them for providing this service to our community, and thanks to everyone for your generous donations, which help defray the costs of the shredding truck. Joni has planned spring and fall shredding events for 2025, so watch for details in future Harbour Lights.
We would also like to thank our Concert Coordinator, Mary-Beth Phillips, and her team for bringing outstanding musical performances to Heritage Harbour. On October 13, performers from the Maryland Opera, led by pianist and Artistic Director James Harp, made opera accessible even to novices. On November 10, Daryl Davis and his band got us up on the dance floor with tunes featuring boogie-woogie, R&B and that old time rock ‘n’ roll. Please mark your calendars for a Celtic Christmas on December 8 and Brian Ganz on January 12.
January will also bring the Civic Association’s annual membership drive, organized by our membership chair Jerry Klinken. In our role as an organization separate from the Heritage Harbour Community Association, we deal primarily with matters that are external to Heritage Harbour, such as those involving county, state or federal governments and agencies. Please watch your USPS mail in early January for a letter from the Civic Association.
Wishing all a happy and healthy holiday season!
Vicki Hutchins, President
